Here is a simple example how the Spirit speaks:
I prayed that Jesus and Abba would finish the good work in me, then the Holy Spirit led me to open the Bible and it landed here:
Being confident of this very thing,
that he which hath begun a good work in you
will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ
Philippians 1:6
He confirms and answers with the Word.
