I’ve long been a fan of UNCONVENTIONAL . . .
Living, thinking, being – all outside of the neat box that’s typically offered as the path to happiness and fulfillment. Grabbing onto a CREATIVE way of living – IS un-conventional – just look up the word creative in the dictionary to check. Anything creative, original, YOURS, is the antithesis of convention. This is often the BIG REASON why artists struggle. Trying to fit – just doesn’t … fit.
YOU, as an artist, a creative – are unconventional.
Part of the struggle that we as creatives experience is the rubbing up against conventional ways of thinking and beliefs about the way you should live and be – what choices to make as you turn the corner of each new day.
As long as it all MEANS something to you – like you’re not doing the right thing or living the right life if you don’t follow that prepared path – it will feel like sandpaper to your soul.
Commit to the stirrings of your heart.
Commit to being an artist. Be primitive and real. Be like a kid – with no worries if it’s the right thing by someone else’s standards (even a really close someone.) Reject mediocrity, complacency and denying your instincts.
I got an email from Danielle LaPorte letting me know about a new mediocrity-busting film called, I’m Fine Thanks, made by 5-guys zigzagging across America and Canada – over 10,000 miles – to bring you stories of people who are fully living by instinct and heart.
What if you were a little less complacent today, a little less mediocre?
What if you said NO to mediocrity and made choices full of passion and fire? What if, just by doing one passion-filled thing, you showed your family and friends that it can be done?
