How are you supposed to pick just one idea when you’re overwelmed with loads of brilliant ones that you dream up every day?
The trouble is, you have no idea what to do with them and usually they end up on sticky notes and napkins and other things that easily get lost in the shuffle of life. Don’t despair just yet, you’re among good company. There are loads of creative people that are stuck in indecision and idea overwhelm – often for days, months or even years.
Here’s the kicker, your gifts cannot be seen and shared if you lock them away or worse… lose them to someone who’s ready.
My aunt was one of those people who had lots of ideas. She had lots of interests and would jot down notes and lists on topics ranging from home remedies to inventions. Unfortunately, my aunt couldn’t act on any of those ideas.
She entered hospice and not long after passed away. When my sister and I cleared out her house, she had stacks of yellow legal pads with lists of things to do, books to read, outline drafts of books to write, plans for the future and a load of sticky notes and napkins with ideas scribbled on them.
Among stacks of projects left in her house to clear were her lists – they went into the trash along with the dreams she left behind, unfinished.
We all, at times, think we’re invincible and have all the time in the world to get our act together, make things perfect and make our dreams a reality.
What if we act on even one idea and take a step today to make it real?
If that thought makes you freeze up, panic or say to yourself, “when I have time…” then you’ve hit resistance and you may be in danger of losing your dreams if you let it.
I’ve just opened up IDEA Wrangler sessions where together we bring your dreams and ideas into the light. If this sounds like a chance you want to take for yourself I’d love to help, if it’s too much for you, there are other ways to get started. The important thing is to pick a step and do it.
Do one thing today to move forward on an idea: schedule time on your calendar to work on, draft the outline, gather the resources, do the first step.Wrangle an idea today – you’ll never ride that idea if it’s still roaming wild.
With love,
Roxanne
