The WAY you SHOW UP in a particular space and choose to honor it, is what makes it sacred.
Showing up is the first part. Waiting until you have a perfect two hours to create may mean that days or even weeks go by before you make time for creating again. Little snatches of time, mini-moments can be just as powerful as a whole afternoon. When you show up, honor your space you’ve set aside to create.
The funny thing is, like pennies or sand, the mini-moments add up.
When you do show up, if you are fully there – with all of your preconceptions left at the door – you’re in the moment and anything can happen! Don’t drag any expectations, excuses, apologies, guilt with you – just walk to your creative space and breathe, “I’m here, right now – and open to the moment. I am so grateful for this time” make it special, sacred.
Does it matter if your creativity has been delayed or denied? Or if you’ve given more than you receive? Actions like these can lead you to feel broken – but are you? Really? Exhausted, I’ll bet, but broken?
What if you just let that all come up and allow yourself to be what you are – all that – and simply open to what is here right now, what is calling, what is offering itself in this challenge – this opportunity.
Try making an effort today to Show Up in your creative space. Even if you only have a mini-moment and no time to break out the supplies. Be grateful for the five minutes. Quiet the chatter – let all of your daily ‘stuff’ drop for a moment and say, “I’m here, right now. I’m open to the moment” Say it over until you feel open.
Honoring your space and yourself like this is a powerful thing. Make a small ceremony out of it to help transform everything you’ve done up to that point into creative energy. Pray, light a candle, say a mantra, walk three time around your work and sprinkle fairy dust.
Do you have a ceremony that you do to help get you into the moment? Tell me about it – love to hear!
